# Method — The Agent Pricing Index

Headline counts, derived at build: 36 of 47 gate a tier behind sales (`enterprise_contact_sales: true`); 9 of 47 publish no price at all (`publishes_a_price: false`). Collection dates: 2026-09-08 (39 rows), 2026-09-18 (8 rows).

## 1. How a row is read

The vendor's own pricing page is read on the collection date, without logging in, by a person or by a text-extraction tool a person checks, and recorded with a verbatim quote. Where the page says nothing, the row says so (null, label ABSENT). A row re-read later keeps the earlier reading beneath the new one. The tool can miss what a page hides behind a click; the Gumloop correction of 2026-09-18 is that miss, recorded. The products were chosen by the author to cover the categories with a few vendors each; a choice, not a ranking.

## 2. Tier definitions

| `mid_plan / mid_usd_month` | The next paid tier up, when the page shows one. |
| `top_public_plan / top_usd_month` | The highest tier that carries a published price. Above it, if anything, is the gated tier. |
| `enterprise_contact_sales` | true when the page offers a tier with no published price. The headline count of sales-gated products is the count of this field. |
| `publishes_a_price` | false when the page publishes no price for any tier in any currency. The headline count of products that publish nothing is the count of this field. |
| `unit_price_usd / usage_unit` | The price of one billable unit, in the vendor's own unit. unit_price_derived is true when IY computed it from two published figures. |

## 3. What was deliberately not done

| No estimates | A missing figure is recorded as null and labelled ABSENT. Nothing is averaged, inferred or carried over from an older read. |
| No continuous scraping | Pages were read on dated days by a person. The index is a set of dated readings, not a feed. |
| No ranking | No product is scored, rated or recommended. The index records what each page says and when. |
