What these three tools do
Nothing complicated. Three pieces of paper, essentially.
1. A log. Every time you use AI for something that matters, jot one line: what it was, did you check it, what you found. Ninety seconds.
2. A checklist. Run it before something important leaves your desk. Did you actually open the source? Is the date right? Does the math hold up?
3. A tracker. One row a week for thirteen weeks, so you can see whether anything changed.
After a month you'll know something almost nobody at your company knows: how often AI is actually wrong in your specific job. That number is the whole point.
One rule. Keep customer names, account numbers and anything else confidential out of it. Write down the kind of thing it was. Never the thing itself.
Why start with a log?
Knowing that AI fails in twenty-four documented ways is worth nothing to your career until you can prove you caught one.
An undefined scope of responsibility is unlimited. A documented scope is finite. "I verified these four things, I did not verify that fifth thing, here is the log, here is the date" is a survivable position. "I don't know what was checked" is not.
The log is the evidence that you were the person exercising judgment.
